3 Ways To Stay On Your Diet For More Than a Few Days
There are no two ways about it, especially during the holidays, that being on a diet is near impossible.
I remember reading a Garfield the Cat comic as a kid around the age of ten. Garfield is walking alone in the short, 3-frame, Sunday Comic. He thinks to himself, “I’m on a diet, no BIG DEAL” and comes to the realization that the word ‘Diet’ is just ‘Die’ with a ‘T’!
There cannot be a bigger agreement! Dieting SUCKS!
Have you started a diet only to crash and burn into a delicious Cinnabon coma on day 4?
The number one reason this happens to anyone is that they quit EVERYTHING. Cold Turkey. It just doesn’t work well that way for the majority of people.
If you don’t have the willpower to quit soda, candy, fast food, bread, the air, whatever then check this out.
3 Ways To Stay On Your Diet For More Than a Few Days
There is no magic wand to losing weight. You have to set yourself up for SUCCESS and be held accountable!
- Smaller Plates
Cutting your portion of each meal is the fastest way to cut caloric intake. But, it’s not always that easy. Your regular dinner plate looks so empty. That 4oz of chicken breast or, whatever else you’re torturing yourself with looks WAAAY smaller with all that extra room. Get smaller plates. This will “trick” your eyes into seeing more food than there really is because the plate is crowded again! - Cut Out Bad Habits One At a Time
Instead of throwing everything in your pantry away at one time. Kill those bad habits SLOWLY over time. If you make a smaller list and cross those things off that list until it’s complete, you’ll experience a small sense of accomplishment and your body won’t flip out on you with PizzaHut cravings at 2:30am or a midnight meeting with Ben & Jerry. Those small wins like knocking sodas out for 2 weeks THEN, adding something else on top of that for another two weeks will build confidence in your ability to obtain your goals! - Have a Real Accountability Group
There is something to say about having a group of people really care about your success. If you’re going to a regular 24 hour gym, it may be difficult to get the affirmation, motivation or, support you need for continued success. I’ve often heard it said, “People want to see you do well just not better than them.” and, sadly, this is the case sometimes! Having a small, like-minded group of individuals and knowledgeable coaches to push you through the “I don’t wanna’s” can be invaluable.
